ZAR ELECTRIK

France | Afro-Electronic Ritual

Zar Electrik is a trio from Marseille (France), active on the Mediterranean music scene.

The captivating voice of Anass Zine, with Maghrebian influences, is accompanied by traditional instruments such as the oud and guembri, subtly blending with the deep voice of Arthur Péneau. He also introduces hybrid African influences through the kora, which he transforms with electric effects.

The result is a rich and generous music, situated at the crossroads between the Maghreb, sub-Saharan Africa and the West.
When the meeting of these three musicians leads to a fusion of Gnawa trance, loops inspired by sub-Saharan music and immersive electronics, the result becomes explosive. Along this journey, Anass Zine and Arthur Péneau, both singers and instrumentalists (guembri, oud and electric kora), join Didier Miosine on the machines for a hypnotic trip to the borders of the Maghreb.

Behind the intense and enveloping voices, a strong call to dance emerges, driven by rhythms and ternary structures immersed in electronics. The sound unfolds in layers, evolving into a dense, dizzying and constantly shifting sonic mass, with echoes of the Orient and borderless grooves.
