TANGOMOTÁN
France | TangoElectro
Tangomotán is a French quartet composed of musicians with backgrounds in orchestral ensembles, dedicated to exploring the hybridization of tango with contemporary aesthetic languages. The project was born from the desire to create a living bridge between traditional tango and today’s music — while embracing an essential element: the dance floor.
Navigating sonic textures that range from acoustic to electronic, the four musicians develop what they call an “Augmented Tango.” In this approach, the characteristic structures and expressive intensity of tango are highlighted and expanded through computer-assisted music, subtle electronic layers, and modern production techniques. The result is a refined yet powerful sound that respects the genre’s heritage while projecting it into a contemporary context.
On stage, beyond the virtuosity of its members, Tangomotán delivers a fully immersive live experience enhanced by a meticulously crafted lighting design. Their instrumental performance unfolds as both concert and celebration — where tradition meets innovation, and tango becomes a vibrant, collective experience.
Following their tango-rock album and tour with renowned French singer Sansévérino, the quartet released their third album on March, 2024. Their Paris release show took place, before embarking on their first Asian tour across South Korea and China, launching the 2024/25 season.
Tangomotán stands today as one of the most compelling European voices in contemporary tango, redefining the genre through an expanded, dance-driven and forward-looking artistic vision.
