SAMIFATI
Transe Gnawa Express
France | Dance / Electro
A violin, video mapping and electronic music inspired by World Music and Bass Music. SAMIFATI blends delicate melodies, epic violin arrangements, powerful bass lines and dreamlike visuals into an immersive audiovisual experience.
On stage, Sami Fati on violin and electronics and Axel Vanlerberghe on video creation and projection invite audiences on a journey at the crossroads of sound and image, where each element contributes to shaping the project’s unique scenography.
For more than ten years, the duo has been travelling the world, collaborating with artists and exploring musical traditions across cultures.
Their long-standing interest in Gnawa culture eventually found its moment in 2022, when the Institut Français of Essaouira commissioned a new creation for the 24th edition of the Gnaoua Festival. The stars aligned, and Transe Gnawa Express was born.
SAMIFATI presents: Transe Gnawa Express
Transe Gnawa Express brings together musicians Hamouda, Amine and Ahmed — closely linked to the renowned Gnaoua World Music Festival — with the French duo Samifati, combining violin, electronics and visual creation.
Created for the 24th edition of the Gnaoua Festival in Essaouira, the collaboration quickly revealed a strong musical and human connection between these artists of the same generation but different cultural backgrounds.
Accessible yet artistically ambitious, Transe Gnawa Express is a multicultural and transgenerational project that moves effortlessly between major festival stages, clubs and cultural venues, gathering diverse audiences in a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere.
Transe Gnawa Express blends traditional Gnawa music, electronic sounds and immersive visual projections, the performance creates a powerful festive trance. The electronic elements enhance the rhythmic energy of the tradition without overpowering it, resulting in a hypnotic and deeply immersive musical journey.
