ATOEM
France | New Wave Electro
ATOEM is the French electronic duo formed by Gabriel and Antoine, whose music explores the idea of entropy — the tension between order and chaos. Their compositions often begin with clear structures before gradually evolving into explosive landscapes of synthetic and deconstructed sounds.
The project started in Rennes around fifteen years ago when the two musicians met while playing in a rock band. As their interest in machines and synthesizers grew, the band gradually transformed into a duo focused on electronic experimentation.
With only two EPs, Atoem quickly gained attention and became one of the revelations of Trans Musicales in 2018, later being selected by MaMA Festival and Printemps de Bourges.
Their sound blends techno, psychedelic electronics and organic instrumentation, drawing inspiration from artists such as Weval while embracing slower tempos that allow space for texture and harmony. Their debut album Entropy reflects this approach, balancing synthetic and organic elements while navigating between tension, introspection and dancefloor energy.
Through this record, Atoem expands their sonic universe by merging art, science, mythology and politics into a dense and emotional electronic journey, reaffirming a simple idea: behind the machines and modular synths, it is still human emotion that drives the music.
